“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16, NASB)
The verse has been weaving in my thoughts and crossing my path for about three weeks now. I wrote about it in this POST. Then the little book arrived in the mail and right there in the introduction the author includes the very same verse.
This past year has been a difficult one for probably everyone. I found myself wondering what I could do for the people in my life to make it just a little bit easier.
I guess I was not the only one wondering.
In her new book, Make Their Day, Karen Ehman provides 101 simple and powerful ways to love others well. She challenges us to do our part in outshining the negativity. And that is so it! In and through the power of Christ in our lives, we can indeed outshine the negativity all around us.
She breaks the suggestions down into eight parts:
- In Your Circle Of Friends
- Within Your Own Family
- Throughout Your Day and Around the Town
- Across the Miles or Through the Screen
- For Those Who Hurt or Need Help
- Among the Household of Faith
- On Holy Days, or Just Because
- By Opening Your Home
The suggestions are easy and doable, sure to be well received, uplifting to any person. Each section begins with a Scripture and motivational thought to get you excited about making the day of someone in your life.
After the year we all have had, there are many who would be delighted to receive a little surprise. The book is an easy read as it is a book of ideas, a book to be turned to as opportunity arises.
Looking outward at others –
it’s the way to make your light shine and
make their day!
