“Your shoes shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be.” (Deuteronomy 33:24, KJV)
“Martin Luther’s wife said, “I would never have known the meaning of various psalms, come to appreciate certain difficulties, of known the inner workings of the soul; I would never have understood the practice of the Christian life and work if God had never brought afflictions to my life.”
Each of us may be sure that if God sends us over rocky paths, He will provide us with sturdy shoes. He will never send us on any journey without equipping us well.” Alexander Maclaren

Today I am joining … Scripture & a Snapshot and Sunday Scripture Blessings and Selah .
May we become tender before the Lord and tough in the presence of affliction–like dear Katie Luther!
Yes! We need to be both tender and tough.
As a runner, I am well aware of the need for good shoes. God gives us the best ones for our life’s journey. It is up to us to remember to put them on!
He surely fits us as the journey deems!
We are facing something rocky right now-not something bad, just something hard-like a hike that takes an unexpectedly difficult turn. I am surrendering, submitting to and trusting God for the “sturdy shoes” to walk through it.
I will surely be praying for you all. May the Lord not only give you sturdy shoes, but may He also make the rocky and rough places smoother to the glory and honor of His Name. xo
Yes, Amen to that inner strength that is provided. Some days I do have to remind myself to Trust that in the end, I will understand the meaning of the challenges.
Oh I love this so much!! God knows the kind of shoes we’ll need for the kind of path he’ll lead us on. What a comforting promise.
Great quotes. I tend to recoil from suffering, but it’s true God teaches us things through it that we don’t learn otherwise.
I think we all would rather learn some other way. But alas, the lessons which often make the deepest and long lasting impacts are the hard ones. So good to have you join here, Barbara!
