Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Fix.
When I think of the word ‘fix’, my first thought is to set something in place properly.
The last year has surely been a challenge for everyone, perhaps in varied ways, but stressful none the less. With loss of jobs, remote learning, covid, restrictions, and isolation, it is easy for our thoughts to get away from us.
Scripture tells us to fix our thoughts on God, on His Word. Remember who He is –
“Remember this, fix it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels. Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other. I am God, and there is none like me.” (Isaiah 46:8-9, NIV)
The exiles became discouraged and lost sight that God had promised to rescue them. God Himself reminded them to turn their eyes back on Him, to fix one thing in their mind – He was God and there was none like Him. He would be with them and would be faithful to His promises.
When worries and concerns come pressing in upon our hearts and minds, we must do one thing. We must fix our thoughts in their proper place, in the only place they belong.
He is God, and there is no other.
He is God, and there is none like Him.

Today I am joining …
It’s easy to become discouraged with how everything is in the world right now but “we must fix our thoughts in their proper place”. I couldn’t agree more. We must fix our eyes and thoughts on God.
Joanne,
Thanks for including a song! I played it while I read other FMF posts. It is a beautiful one that I hadn’t heard in awhile! Thanks for reminding me to fix my eyes upon Jesus. FMF#10, Jennifer
There is no other God. Amen. Keeping my eyes fixed on him. Visiting from fmf #4
Such a great reminder. I love the song – hadn’t heard it in a while. Thank you for your reflection today.
Such a great reminder! I had no idea there was actually a Bible verse relating to the word “fix”. It is so fitting though.
Every so often, we just need to go back to the truth of who God is. Thank you for the words to take me there today.
The Fixer and Finisher of our Faith!!!
Fix our thoughts on God. Simple and perfect.
Gotta fix my thoughts on God,
fix ’em there, and there they’ll stay,
but I’ve noticed something odd:
sometimes He ups and runs away
like a dog who’s slipped a leash,
and turning, laughing, bids me follow
running down a smooth-sand beach,
then sudden-dashing up a hollow
while in His tracks I panting come
(Oh, come ON! My feet are tired!),
but I soon am seeing that the sum
of my steps keeps me inspired,
and that pursuit has given voice
to knowing He must be my choice.
Amen and amen! I know where to look for my deliverance :).
Yes! As my pastor used to say, “The main thing is that the main thing remains the main thing.” And the main thing is Jesus.

Amen!
Amen Joanne, I love your insights and encouraging words. It is so true that “We must fix our thoughts in their proper place, in the only place they belong.” great reminder. Blessings
