“Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’†(John 7:38, NLT)
“Our Lord’s teaching was always anti-self-realization. His purpose is to make a person exactly like Himself, and the Son of God is characterized by self-expenditure. If we believe in Jesus, it is not what we gain but what He pours through us that really counts. God’s purpose is not simply to make us beautiful, plump grapes, but to make us grapes that He can squeeze the sweetness out of us. Our spiritual life cannot be measured by success as the world measures it, but only by what God pours through us – and we cannot measure that at all.
“He who believe in Me … out of his heart will flow rivers of living water” – and hundreds of other lives will be continually refreshed. Now is the time for us to break “the flask” of our lives; to stop seeking our own satisfaction, and to pour out our lives before Him. Our Lord is asking who of us will do it for Him?”

Today I am joining … Scripture & a Snapshot and Sunday Scripture Blessings and Selah
Refreshing water is life’s resource for us as is to the soul when we soak up his word so yes, pour me out and break through the human dam.
Yes, and Amen!
I was just praying in my quiet time yesterday that God would help me to live in this way Oswald Chambers is writing about. I can be so self willed about the way I want to spend my days instead of being willing to be poured out in whatever way God wants.
I am finding it truly is a self-sacrifice and does not come easily. But the reward and joy when we do is so worth the cost.
I love that Jesus provides me with the nourishment I need for my life.
Oh, we called to a poured out life, but somehow God just keeps refilling us. If we never break the flask, we never experience the mystery!
Michele, thank you for sharing this beautiful thought. May we experience the mystery!
