We were sitting out on the patio, taking in the warmth of the sunshine and the fresh air. Having just returned from running a quick errand, conversation circled around the lack of traffic and people out and about.
All of a sudden, I blurted out, “Look at how beautiful that green is against the blue!”
It was breathtaking and a powerful statement of the astounding skill of our Creator. The green was vibrant, speaking of new life, or a new season, ready to burst forth. The blue of the sky was rich with the promise of better days yet to come.
Later on, going back out to try and capture the beauty and moment in a photo, the verse softly echoed in my thoughts:
“The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born.” (Psalm 33:6, NLT)
It only took the sight of the color green for my heart and mind to be turned towards God. A spoken word from Him and creation happens all around us every day.
He speaks and creation obeys. There is no opposition, no failure. The tree cannot resist budding nor refuse to cooperate. One word and the buds begin to open, displaying the exact shade of desired green.
And what should be our response?
“Let the whole world fear the Lord, and let everyone stand in awe of him. For when he spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command.” (verse 8-9, NLT)
His word created everything and continues to sustain all things by His powerful word. This should bring reassurance to our hearts that it is His plans that will succeed. His plans will not be thwarted, frustrated, or changed.
“For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does. He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.” (verses 4-5, NLT)
He has never, and will never, act out of character. He is good and is just and is faithful. All His works and actions flow from His unchanging character.
He has never changed His plan and is fulfilling His original plan since the beginning of time.
“But the Lord’s plans stand firm forever; his intentions can never be shaken.”
(verse 11, NLT)
“And all the people said Amen
Give thanks to the Lord for His love never ends.”
(Matt Maher)
Today I am joining …
I think our hearts are more attuned to beauty in these days of sheltering at home. I know in my own situation, God is using the beauty of creation AND the truth of his word to reveal himself in wonderful ways that make me think of Psalm 19!
Awe is an appropriate response to the Lord’s beautiful creation. So many beautiful sights this time of year – the new green leaves, buds on the bushes, flowers in the garden, and birds returning to the forests. God’s imagination is evident in the abundance of the season!
What power in God’s Word, that He spoke all this into existence. Even though the world is marred by sin, we still see God’s hand in the beauty of it and His wisdom in how everything works.
Oh my, Jo !!!!! Two peas in a pod!!!!!!!! Love this! Love You!!🥰🥰🥰
