Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. The prompt this week is … Perspective.
This was a difficult word prompt and I’ll admit, I sat for some time trying to get my thoughts together. Perspective. It’s how we view a situation or people. Perspective can vary from person to person as it is skewed by our personalities and past experiences.
Perspective. We all have our own opinions on this pandemic …
- To don a mask or not?
- Essential or non-essential?
- To stay in or not?
- Can we gather or not?
- Keep up with the news or turn it off?
- Who is to blame for this virus?
- Pay bills or let them go?
As the mandates change from day to day, our perspective changes. What do the new guidelines mean? And everyone has their own perspective on this as well. How we interpret the mandates can often provide the avenue by which we bend the rules.
This is what I have been mulling on for days for it isn’t my perspective, or opinion, which truly is of importance. It is what is in the mind of the one who has written the guidelines.
This is the one we should respect and obey. But our rebellious spirits long to hold onto control, to decide for ourselves what we will and won’t do.
“Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.” (Psalm 119:18, NLT)
Only as I see His truth from His perspective will I live a life pleasing to Him. As He enables me to see His perspective, His truth, then I am able to live in obedience to His will and live life fully.
For there is only one perspective that is true, and right, and matters:
“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6, NLT)
May He open my eyes, our eyes, to see life through the lens of His perspective.
Very good, very timely perspective. You actually left me wanting to read more. I enjoyed this very much.

What a blessing to know the peace that comes from keeping our eyes fixed on Christ!
It’s all about the way you see
the dice roll to a stop;
you may find a victory,
or snake-eyes come on top.
When you’ve thrown them, don’t complain,
for it’s no longer in your grasp
to order pleasure, ward off pain,
or find a gentle hand to clasp,
for these are days of iron men
with cold and rock-ribbed souls
for whom grace is beyond the ken
however your dice rolls;
they are there just to ensure
that come the finish, you’ll endure.
Very well said. Thank you!
You put that so well. Thanks for sharing.
