This week, Hello Mornings, begins a new study: God’s Prevailing Purpose – A Study of the Life of Joseph.
Joseph is probably best known for his beautiful coat of many colors (queue in Broadway play music here😀) and his dreams, which were not appreciated at the time.
Joseph was also a man who displayed faith, wisdom, and an ability to govern and make decisions. His character resulted in the saving of a land, a country, and his very own family when a lengthy famine hit.
Yet there is so much more we can glean from this one man’s life. In the weeks to come, his story will encourage us to recognize the sovereignty of God in the circumstances of our lives, yes, even when they are most difficult and seemingly, hopeless. His story will remind us:
“You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.”
(Proverbs 19:21, NLT).
I’ll be sharing the lessons gleaned from the six week study, as we will be looking at the “themes of rejection, reunion, reconciliation, reversal, and redemption”. Joseph’s story, and the weeks to come, will bring reminders of God’s sovereign control over all things even when bad things occur. We will find ourselves inspired to develop a firm faith in God which will withstand the winds of adversity.
Joseph is one of my favorite Bible characters so I’m looking forward to your commentary on him. I just taught about him to my high school girls on Sunday morning.
I am looking forward to learning from your learning, Joanne. Joseph’s story is one of the most intriguing in the Old Testament. As you write, it has it all – “rejection, reunion, reconciliation, reversal, and redemption”.
There are so many great lessons we can learn from Joseph. I’m grateful for the long narratives we have about some of the people in the Bible. I wish we had even more! 🙂 I’m sure your study is going to be great, Joanne.
Joanne, I love to study the life of Joseph! So many lessons there. We just posted a post on his life a few weeks ago. Humility is one characteristic I think of when I think of Joseph. And he was victimized, yet he did not react like a victim. A very valuable lesson for all of the victims today. Same with Jesus Christ ””> victimized, yet He did not respond as a victim. A valuable lesson for all of us.

Thank you for linking up at InstaEncouragements!
Joanne,
I take heart in the story of Joseph. It reminds me that nothing, absolutely nothing, can thwart God’s sovereign will. In that I take hope. Looking forward to what you’ll be sharing.
Blessings,
Bev xx
Just finished a series of lessons on Joseph with our Awanas on Wednesday nights. Will look forward to following those up, a bit, with an adult perspective:)
