“Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am?” (John 14:9a, NLT)
“True friendship is rare on earth. It means identifying with someone in thought, heart, and spirit.
It is a joy to Jesus when a disciple takes time to walk more intimately with Him.
The Christian who is truly intimate with Jesus will never draw attention to himself but will show the evidence of a life where Jesus is completely in control. This is the outcome of allowing Jesus to satisfy every are of life to its depth. The picture resulting from such a life is that of the strong, calm balance that our Lord gives to those who are intimate with Him.”
(Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest, January 7)
Today I am joining … Scripture & a Snapshot and Sunday Scripture Blessings .
“Allowing Jesus to satisfy every area of life to its depth”- these words penetrated my heart this morning. This is the way I want to live.
What a wistful verse right from the heart of Jesus.
I don’t want to be that kind of friend!
Can only imagine the joy of meeting a new friend only to realize that it is the Messiah. I can picture the elation and also the dropped jaw of awe. 🙂
I want to be that kind of true friend to at least a few of the people I’m privileged to know. And above all I want to have that kind of friendship with my Lord. I love the gentle rebuke and invitation wrapped together that Jesus gives to Philip.
