Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Pace.
She went for her one year checkup and the question comes, “What are her percentiles now?”
Pace can be defined as the rate of growth or progress, and the rate of movement as in keeping step.
We all grow at our own pace both physically and spiritually.
It has been such a fascinating year watching this third granddaughter develop, as she is similar yet vastly different from the first two. Each has grown and developed uniquely, and at their own pace.
Each of us grows spiritually at our own pace as well. It is as the Holy Spirit wills and works in us, along with our willingness to let Him work in our lives.
May we keep pace with the Spirit – not running ahead nor lagging behind. Let’s allow Him to lead the way in our progress, recognizing our spiritual journeys are each personal to us and may not look the same as others.
In watching our littlest grand learn to walk, we often laughed as she would stop walking, give a little wiggle of her hips as if in tune with a song, and then continue on. We would remark, “She’s marching to the beat of a different drummer.”
May we give each other the freedom to grow in Jesus at the pace in which He leads. No judgment. No criticism. Just grace to grow.
“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.”
(Ralph Waldo Emerson)
“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
(Galatians 5:25, NIV)
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith On Fire and Faith ‘N Friends .
Good to be your neighbor this morning!
Thank you for a timely reminder.
Joanne, love the Emerson quote. Nature calms me as does the Spirit when I allow Him to. The older I get, the less multitasking and the more breathing I do 🙂
Love this!
Dear Jesus, if I grow in you,
do You, too, grow in Me?
Do the things that I go through
magnify Your majesty?
I know You did not send this,
the blade of cancer’s pain,
but I think I might be remiss,
not asking – did You gain?
I fight in faith and boundless hope
for Your mercy is my grounding.
Can You use this as a trope
to ease another’s pounding?
All I am goes to Your heart;
am I there, in some small part?
May we all walk to the beat of Jesus drum as we were created to do! Lovely post Joanne.
Remember you’re always welcome to join me in a cuppa,
Bless you,
Jennifer
Beautiful analogy, Joanne. Since comparison is a huge part of our culture that sometimes also plagues Christians, it’s easy to get caught up in our pace versus someone else’s and vice versa. Thanks for the reminder it’s about keeping in step (pace) with the Spirit (Galatians 5:25)..
