Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Take.
When I know long amounts of time will be spent in the kitchen, I pull out the old CD’s. The kitchen becomes a sacred place as the familiar tunes and words fill my soul. The words heard just Wednesday afternoon come back to me upon seeing the word prompt …
“Here’s my time, take it as You will. I place it in Your hands.
I place it in Your hands.”(from “In Your Hands” by Christy Nockels
This is the prayer of my heart, almost on a daily basis – for God to take the time left in my life, and use it for His purposes.
A quick check of dictionary.com brings this definition of the word ‘take’ > “to hold, grasp, or grip”. And with the definition now before me, one verse comes to mind:Â
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:29, NLT)
The responsibility of taking on His yoke falls on me. I must take the yoke and be willing to stay the course with Him.
Only as I wear His yoke will I discover the fullness of who Jesus is and gain rest for my soul. His rest brings fulfillment and satisfaction as our lives are more productive when surrendered and obedient.
May we hear His gentle voice,
“Take My yoke upon you.”
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith On Fire and Fresh Market Friday and Faith ‘N Friends .
Good reminder. Take my yoke. Our choice. I appreciate this reminder.
Great song choice!
You know what I like most about FMF? We are usually neighbors. xo to you my dear friend.
It’s true. And your camper looks beautiful! Looking forward to reading about your adventures!
I’ve been mulling around being useful to God as of late. I too want to use my life for His purpose but just not sure what that purpose is right now. Thank you for reminding me to remain yoked with Jesus!
Praying for God to show you as you remain connected to Him. Blessings!
The responsibility is surely mine – in order to take His yoke. And, no doubt, there is often something I must let go of in order to take that yoke. It has been a year of “submitting” for me…and a lot of letting go!! Thanks for the reminder to take the yoke instead!
