“Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb.” (Matthew 28:1, NLT)
“It isn’t hope that leads [Mary and Mary Magdalene] up the mountain to the tomb. It is duty. Naked devotion. They expect nothing in return. What could Jesus give? What could a dead man offer? The two women are not climbing the mountain to receive, they are going to the tomb to give. Period.
There in no motivation more noble …
Service prompted by duty. This is the call of discipleship.

The women are following Jesus’ teaching. Giving, rather than receiving. I like to think it was service prompted by love!
The example of these women throughout the gospels is wonderful, but especially at the cross and at the tomb, where they are so faithful!
“…they are going to the tomb to give.”
What a blessing it was to read this today! I’m very late on clicking through links and commenting this week, but I have more time to chew on this today!
