We saw this up close and personal as we used crowbars and all manner of noisy tools to take our kitchen down to bare walls and then start all over again. It’s such a messy and inconvenient process, but the new (by far) surpasses the comfortable old. Thanks, Joanne, for this great reminder of the necessary process of tearing out and rebuilding.
Michele, I loved that you have shared this as you also shared photos in the process. Having been there myself, it truly is messy and inconvenient but oh so worth it in the end!
Beautiful quote! Sometimes we do have to go through some discomfort to become all that God intends us to be.
We haven’t had any messy projects in our house for a while, but hubby is about to start one. He needs to replace our temporary loft railing with the permanent railing he’s building himself. This will require scaffolding in the great room that I’m sure I’ll enjoy walking around – especially in the middle of the night! The end result will be lovely, so I’ll be patient. I need to remind myself of that fact the next time God is working on a messy area of my heart
Oh yes. But that is the only way to grow.
Ohhhhhh….I have read that same section many times. I think of how boards and nails creak and cry as they are being torn out only to sing with joy when all is clean and beautiful again! Praise Jesus during the reconstruction of our hearts knowing it is for our good…..
My husband and I were just talking yesterday about some updates we want in our kitchen, and how a simple DIY can snowball into a complete remodel. And as costly and uncomfortable as those kinds of projects can be sometimes, it’s often necessary and it’s so good when it’s complete! God’s remodels aren’t always comfortable for us, and they’ll likely cost us, but we can be sure that what he decides to do is necessary and will turn out GREAT!! Thanks for linking this up today!
