“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 4:6-7, NIV)
“Anxiety is a fierce opponent with which you may wrestle, and sometimes you may find that it has pinned you to the mat. To loose yourself from anxiety’s hold – or avoid the battle all together – you need the Holy Coach’s help.
When anxiety begins to push at your thoughts, when a problem is on the horizon, immediately run to God, then pray, petition, and thank. The situation may not be resolved as you had imagined, but you will know you received the result God was looking for – and be left with God’s shield of peace, a transcendent gift beyond all understanding.
Prayer: God, thank You for providing peace today right when and where I need it. I trust You to reign in every detail. Amen.

Today I am joining … Spiritual Sundays and Scripture & a Snapshot and Selah .
I do not normally suffer with anxiety. I feel for those who do. My oldest daughter moved out when she was 18. She moved into her father’s house and we went through some rough times. That was when anxiety became my constant companion. It was also when I realized that the only thing that helped us was a constant faith and constant conversation with God.
Kara, I am so glad that you found Him to be the true source of help. May your comment offer someone the hope they need. Blessings!
We used to have a pastor who would say this verse after every sermon. It’s, therefore, one of my favorites! I used to get so anxious when my kids were younger – staying out 5 minutes past curfew, hanging out with friends I questioned, etc. I got over that as they grew up. Now I worry about my grandchildren!
Laurie, I so relate to you. As our children become adults and have their own children, our families grow and so do our worries. I am so grateful we can find peace in Him during those times.
This is a great verse, it is more effective than us trying to guard it like the Proverb says.
My daughter struggles with anxiety, and that is one of her favorite verses. She’s learning to trust God to help her overcome her fears. Thanks for sharing this!
I love the image of the peace of God guarding our hearts. We just need to learn to leave everything in His hands and forget about fretting.
