“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, NLT)
“The disciples’ charge and promise is also yours. You may feel powerless when you see the brokenness in your community, but you are not; God has given you His Spirit to empower you in His plan to restore the world, and He has prepared the work for you to do (see Ephesians 2:10). As you lean on His power to serve your community, ask Him to give you wisdom and courage to bear witness to His hope to everyone around you – with your words, your hands, your life.
Prayer: Father, I want to give Your hope to my community! Show me my part in Your plan to bring restoration.

Today I am joining … Open Sunday Thoughts and Spiritual Sundays and Scripture & a Snapshot .
So often I forget that power for service comes from the same place as power for salvation. Thanks, Joanne, for these lovely words on a Sunday morning.
I love what Joanne posted today, and I love Michele’s comment. It’s so important to remember The Source!
Thank you to both of you ladies for stopping to share. May we remember!
When I read this, I started singing Casting Crowns song In Me ‘Cause when I’m weak, You make me strong
“When I’m blind, You shine Your light on me
‘Cause I’ll never get by living on my own ability
How refreshing to know You don’t need me
How amazing to find that You want me
So I’ll stand on Your truth, and I’ll fight with Your strength
Until You bring the victory, by the power of Christ in me.”
Debbie, thank you for sharing the lyrics. I don’t think I’ve ever heard this Casting Crowns song – it is beautiful! The name of the song is “In Me” if anyone else wants to hear it. Thank you!
This week I have been overwhelmed with the brokenness and needs of people in our church and neighborhood. With my fixer personality, I have to continually cast these cares on God and ask Him to show me when and how to respond to all of the needs.
The when and how are most critical to our response in meeting the need. I need to remember I am not called to meet every need immediately but wait on Him.
There are many people in need in our community. Such a big difference with those who have extreme and those who have none all living in the same community. My husband and I volunteer at a shelter and with our church mission team. We all are given opportunities to show God’s love. I pray we all find ways to help each other.
Melissa, may God help you and your church mission team to be most effective in serving at the shelter. Truly you all are there for a reason and you all will surely make a difference in the lives of many. Blessings!
