Life is often a team effort, with each of us being like a piece in a puzzle. We must fit in and do our part in order for the larger picture to form clearly.
What is our role as a puzzle piece?
- We must give God control. Jesus made it clear He must go before us. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NLT). We release control of our lives and let God move the pieces as He knows best.
- We must follow God. I have been know to plug an address into my GPS and then go ahead my own way. I want the GPS “in case”, to fall back on. But God wants that He lead and we follow. Every bump, detour, and road closing is a vital component of the journey, not to be missed. “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross and follow me” (Matthew 16:24, NLT).
- We must remain teachable and moldable. God is desiring that our lives stay pliable in His hands. He wants to be able to teach, change, and mold us so that His will becomes the focus of our lives. “And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand” (Isaiah 64:8, NLT).
God holds all the pieces and He puts them in place one piece at a time. In His grace and mercy, He lovingly directs and guides us where we need to be.
We’re all puzzle pieces.
Stay surrendered in His hands.

Today I am joining … #DreamTogether and Inspire Me Monday and Glimpses .
Love this illustration Joanne of us being puzzle pieces. It’s so true how we fit together.
I laughed. Yes, I go on my way too and have that GPS leading me just in case.
Oh, how I love (and needed) these reminders today! You are so right about each of them, and I relate to your desire to go your own way. Remembering that God is not there as a fall back plan, but as the best plan changes everything!
Becky, it makes all the difference in the world. And gets us to where He would have us much more quickly 🙂
What a great analogy. I keep thinking I’m fine doing life on my own””but not at all!
