Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Work.
Reading the prompt, my mind immediately goes to a text conversation from yesterday. It went something like this:
Person: “I have to be honest … with not knowing what is going to happen, I’m not handling it well. I don’t do well with unknowns and it feels like my whole world is an unknown right not.”
Me: “Life is full of uncertainty. We trust our certain God in all things. Everything will fall into place as it should in His time. It will all work out.”
Person: “It’s just hard to trust all of that when it feels like everything is falling apart.”
Me: “Sometimes it has to fall apart in order for God to bring it all together.”
And that is so it. Life is filled with uncertainty no matter how advanced technology becomes or how much education we may obtain. We will never be able to be certain of all things all the time.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28, NLT)
Not everything will go as planned. Not everything will be good. But we have the assurance that our God will bring good from all things which occur in our lives. And on those uncertain days, may we remember:
“Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”
(Corrie Ten Boom)
There is only one certainty in this life …
Our God will work all things out.
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith On Fire and Faith Filled Friday and Faith ‘N Friends and Fresh Market Friday .
Not everything will go as planned…that is so so true! Thank you for this reminder this morning.
This is great wisdom for hurricane season, but the “falling apart” is never limited to a certain season.
Thanks for five-minutes’ worth of wonderful words.
Your wisdom shines through. “Sometimes it all has to fall apart for God to put it back together.” And while it will never be the same, if we let Him, God transforms us as He puts us back together.
THis is so so true. I just emailed my cousin and said, “Maybe a little fear for their very lives will draw them to their Savior.” I was referring to Irma and my two adult sons who think “they’re spiritually ok” but there is no fruit. I pray they are called according to His purpose and God will work all things up…
Love that quote by Corrie Ten Boom! And…I love your reminder to trust. Thanks!
You and I were thinking in the same direction today! So much goodness in Romans 8:28. I’m in the 33 spot this week.
Dear Joanne, Not everything will go as planned yet Romans 8:28 assures us that it will work for our good for those called according to his purpose. Love you my friend. Blessings Diana
Oh, I so relate to this! When I got a good PhD in a strong field from a top school, I thought I had the world by the tail.
God had different plans. To put it mildly. Like, a ministry to the caregivers, and to the dying.
