Each Friday my writing stems from a word prompt. Five minutes, one word prompt. The prompt this week is … Guide.
It’s been a year of twists and turns. Life is funny like that as one can often journey through the days with the feeling of familiar and comfortable, while knowing changes that are unknown, unfamiliar, and uncomfortable.
We had prayed through on certain decisions, confident the Lord had opened certain doors, only to find them quickly shut through actions or reactions not our own.
Always the Lord required us to handle our own decisions and responses in a way that honored Him.
In the mess of decisions that were not our desire, we looked for signs that God was in it. Even in this.
At times, we held onto just the glimmer of Him, the comfort that He is enough.
Doors open. Doors close. New doors open and we walk through confident that He is with us even as we walk not knowing.
“The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” (Psalm 32:8, NLT)
The best pathway.
If He closes doors then it wasn’t the best pathway. It wasn’t His best for us.
God always has our best interest at heart. He does not withhold. He loves us with a love so deep, so fierce that He always has our backs.
He guides us along the best pathway for our lives.
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith On Fire and Faith Filled Friday and Faith ‘N Friends and Fresh Market Friday .
That’s how I’ve tried to look at things too Joanne. If doors close, it’s not the way we should go. Not that we always understand the why’s but we can have confidence in his way.
Exactly! The whys may not be understood but we can be confident in Him and His way. Beautifully worded!
This reminds me of a hike I took in the San Diego backcountry years ago, trying to reach a particular peak.
The logical path seemed to be up a smooth, shallow draw, avoiding the sharp spine of a nearby ridge.
But the draw meandered its way onto a box canyon, and the temptation to avoid backtracking would lead one up an almost sheer cliff until forward progress became impossible. Going back was almost as hard (though there was an easy way, if one didn’t mind falling a few hundred feet).
The right road was indeed along the crest of the ridge one had avoided. Never easy, but never impossible.
Andrew, great story. And isn’t that the way of life? Never easy but never impossible.
Thank you friend!
Oh Joanne, thank You! This post really spoke to my heart this week. So much THIS: “In the mess of decisions that were not our desire, we looked for signs that God was in it. Even in this.” I felt that months ago when things changed unexpectedly for me at my job etc. Today I am blessed by a new job and knowing God was indeed there all along. I’m over in the 50 spot this week.
It is so amazing to see how God works in ways beyond our comprehension. I am so glad that your new job has been a blessing, Tara.
I liked your post. I often use the doors open and close system of knowing God’s Devine Guidance for my life. Thanks for sharing. FMF #63
