“And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”
(Esther 4:12b, NIV)
“Often huge accomplishments are made merely because people were in the right place in the will of God at the right time. Yet some people miss opportunities to make a difference because they fail to take small steps along the way.
Are we dedicating minutes, hours and weeks to the little details that God puts in front of us to do? Or are we on the sidelines, waiting for something bigger to come along? May we be useful to His kingdom’s work in whatever, whenever and wherever He deems to be “such a time as this.”
Prayer: Father, you have a plan to use me at all stages of my life. Help me to follow Your will even in the little things so that I’ll be ready for any opportunity You have to use me. Amen.

Today I am joining … Spiritual Sundays and Scripture & a Snapshot and Open Sunday Thoughts .
Funny, for some reason I hadn’t noticed (or mentally interacted with) the title of the book where you glean these lovely quotes. Thanks for being one of the Voice of the Faithful in my ear — what a great title and a great thing to aspire to be!
I am so enjoying the devotional this year.
Our struggles may seem insurmountable to us at times but they are just God preparing us for the gifts he has in store for us.
So very true. Every part of our lives is preparation for what is yet to come. I read somewhere this week that God sees the parade from beginning to end. We only see the part that passes directly in front of us. I thought that was so good. May we trust Him in all things.
I just got through reading Esther again…she tangles my thoughts with her faithfulness every single time. I love how God used her obedience even as I think, “that could never be me” which is, I am sure, exactly what Esther thought in the thick of it. Thank you for sharing this with me at such an appropriate time!
Jamie, I have often wondered of Esther’s inner thoughts. It is something to ponder as it will motivate us to be obedient in the thick of it as well.
Such a timely reminder to me as I’m turning 60 in a couple of weeks. Loved this, “You have a plan to use me in all stages of my life”.
Milestones. They always cause us to ponder what is yet to come. I have no doubt that He will use you in this stage as well! Blessings and Happy Birthday! 🙂
A lovely devotion – being faithful in the little things – and timely responding … Your image fits so well to your verse, Joanne!
At times, I think it is harder to be faithful in the little things than in the big things. And most times, the little things are bigger than we can even realize. So glad you stopped here!
I love the insight of doing the small things that God puts in our way rather than waiting for Him to use us by giving us something big to do.
Miriam, your comment made me wonder how many small things we might miss if we only wait for the big things. May we not miss anything He has for us to do.
I love that little phrase in the book of Esther. Amazing the ways God can orchestrate our days to place us in the right place at the right time – may we be obedient and make the most of those opportunities!
It is amazing to think how God aligns time and place and opportunity all for His glory. May we be faithful to obey.
AMEN. Wow, this is something my heart needs to hear. I need to be faithful and obedient in those little things, wanting to honor God in every circumstances instead of just always wanting something ‘bigger’ to come along.
Me too, Emily, me too. Being faithful in the small is my prayer lately.
