The Five Minute Friday prompt this week is … Enough. You can click at the bottom of this post to get to Kate Motaung’s site and read all that has been shared on this word.

Enough … I read the word and enter it into the search bar – “adequate for the want or need; sufficient for the purpose or to satisfy desire” (dictionary.com).

The definition reminds me of the One, the Only One, truly adequate, sufficient, and enough for any and all my needs. Jesus alone is able to satisfy all my heart could need or desire.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

His very words to us. God’s grace is not only His unmerited favor offering salvation but it is a power given to us to sustain us throughout all of our days, no matter what they may hold or entail.

Paul found that he could boast all the more about his weaknesses, for those times that he was not enough in himself. For it was then that Christ’s power became more than enough, resting on him and empowering him.

The very things that weaken me are the very means by which the door is opened for Christ to be visible and at work in power. In some paradoxical way, we become more powerful as we least rely on ourselves and our abilities.

We can take delight in those times when we recognize, and admit to Him, that we are not enough. For it is in those very times of “insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles” (see 2 Corinthians 12:10), we will find…

Christ to be more than enough for us.
