Friday means looking at the word prompt and joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Many of us writing on that same word.
Today’s prompt is … Mail.
Like most, I love getting mail. It is such fun to hold a package in my hands and wonder what will be inside. But there is no more touching sight than the sight of an envelope with handwriting on it signifying a friend has been thinking of you.
Mail, as defined by dictionary.com, is: “a single collection of such letters, packages, etc., as sent or delivered.”
Everything God wanted and needed to say to me, I hold in my hands each time I hold my Bible. Tucked between the two covers, His spoken and written words, are the very words He knew would become life to me.
There will never be a time His Word will not impart to me that which is needed in every given moment of my life.
“The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the one recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.” (John 20: 30-31, NLT)
God’s Word, delivered to us by the Living Word – Jesus, the Logos.
God’s letter written to each of us, individually and corporately, so that we would live with a present and active belief in Him so that our lives would be lived out by the power of His Name.
No greater mail has ever been delivered to us.
No greater mail can we read.
The Bible – God’s love letter to us.
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Grace & Truth and Faith ‘N Friends and #FreshMarketFriday .
I challenged the ladies in our study the other night to look at I Corinthians the way it would have been received: pre-internet, pre-USPS. It was a pretty big deal to get a letter in those days, and it’s a pretty big deal to hear from God today. Thanks, Joanne, for reminding me once again that when I read the Word of God, I’m reading the WORDS OF GOD. Amazing.
Such a wonderful way to look at 1 Corinthians! It is so true – we forget that His Word was written by hands as the Spirit moved on them. And it is His personal Word to each one of us.
Love this, thank you. â¤ï¸
So true! Great Post Joanne reminding us to value the letter, the direction we’ve already received from the best love-letter of them all 🙂
Have a great weekend.
~Sherry Stahl
Stopped by via the #FaithandFriends #Linkup #CountingMyBlessings I did!
Love that you added that we have already received direction and we will continue to receive as we seek Him through the pages of His Word. Glad you shared, Sherry!
As I was browsing my email this morning, yours caught my attention…that title MAIL does it every time!! I LOVE to receive mail…am in the process of writing my FMF post for today, and getting the previous days’ posts into my new blog.
Excited to be joining the FMF family for the write 31 days of “free writes”…though it has been a challenge when I couldn’t get back into my blog. Not going to quit writing/blogging; so I created a brand new blog…still under construction!!
Barbara, the Write 31 days is surely a challenge. One I did not take this year although I have in the past. Good for you for not giving up! Keep at it and may you be greatly blessed!
Logos – the word. Thanks for that so good reminder today, Joanne.
And in these days we are in – we need The Word, The Logos.
Beautiful post! Love the quote “The Bible is God’s love letter to us”. Worth opening and reading over and over. Thanks. Joining you at Faith’nFriends.
Sandra, isn’t it amazing – we read it over and over. And it is still always new!
Joanne, I love God’s love letter to us. Stopping by from FMF. His love letter is the most important mail because of the letters that were written to the churches. Thanks and blessings. I am spot 86 this week. Diana
Diana, so grateful for your encouragement! His letter to the churches – for all time.
And, sent SPECIAL DELIVERY!!!
Joanne, what a sweet post. There’s nothing like a letter from someone we love.
You are right…no greater mail has ever come to us!! But I have to admit when I first saw the word, my mind went straight to my favorite movie, “You’ve Got Mail.”
I bookmarked this post weeks ago to visit when I had more time, and now today i am smiling from ear to ear. Love you 🙂
