“What makes a river so restful to people is that it doesn’t have any doubt – it is sure to get where it is going and it doesn’t want to go anywhere else.” (Hal Boyle)

There truly is nothing as restful as sitting by some calm waters. The sound and motion can just soothe every worry or concern. All stress just leaves every inch of our bodies.

I read the above quote the other day and have returned to read it several times until it finally brought this Scripture to mind:

“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”
(Psalm 139:16, NLT)

Every day. Every moment. All of my life is recorded in His book. Not a single thing which occurs in my life, and in yours, will ever take our God by surprise.

He is sovereign over our lives so we are sure to get where we are supposed to go. May our lives be so rooted in His will that we will not want to go anywhere else.

With Him in control and our hearts following Him, we are sure to get to where we are going.

And in that we can find rest.
May you find rest in Him today.
