I’m joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. All of us writing on that same word.
Today’s prompt is …. Dance.
“You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy.” (Psalm 30:11, NLT)
I read the word, the memory immediately came to mind, and the tears began to roll.
How is it that one word can evoke such deep emotion?
I would pick her up from pre-school, this first born granddaughter of mine, two times a week. It soon became our thing to do while driving home.
We would not even have left the parking lot of the school when she would say, “Mimi, let’s do dance floor!”
The music would need to be blasting, windows all open as the two of us sang at the top of our lungs – all the way home.
I have sat here, way longer than five minutes, unable to write as I listen to the song over and over again. And the prayer forms as I sit listening ….
May she always come alive to God’s purposes for her life. May she surrender to Him, fully and completely, at a young age. May she live assured of His deep and great love for her. May she bring Him all that she is for all of her days and be filled with His joy always!
Life is a dance – a series of movements – a leap, a skip all stemming from excitement.
Sophia, may you live each day on God’s great dance floor!
And may you always know that I love you!
Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Fellowship Friday .
I am reminded of that same verse. I love your story of singing and praising at the top of your lungs. What great memories and ways to enjoy life with others. Enjoy your day, dancing all the way.
It has been a precious memory to hold onto 🙂
That is beautiful! What a wonderful memory with your granddaughter. She will remember as well and may it be a great seed of faith and joy planted in her heart! Thank you for sharing this story with us! Happy Friday to you! (Your close neighbor at FMF)
I have been blessed to make memories with each of my granddaughters. We need those as well as they do 🙂
My ggirl and I use the CD by Go Fish “Party Like a Preschooler”. There are many songs we dance to in it. She gets embarrassed at first but then joins in. We especially like the tickle song.
We love “Go Fish” here 🙂 And it is true, it is as they see us joining in that they join in as well. It’s good to join them in their songs!
I love it, Jo. That has been my prayer for Sophia, too.
Thank you, Mare. And remember Jocelyn as well 🙂
How precious! What special memories you’ve created. You’re a wonderful Mimi! Never underestimate the impact you’ve had, with God’s help.
Thanks, Kate. I have been blessed to spend the time I do with them each day. It is always good to join you each week 🙂
so wonderful, isn’t it fun to be a grandma I love it.
Sharon, it is the very best! You & I are blessed for sure!
