I’m joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. All of us writing on that same word.
Today the word prompt is … Hope.
I read the word prompt earlier and thought, “I will come back to it later.” In the midst of reading, I found myself humming but did not pay attention as I continued to read and do my study.
But then I stopped and listened to the words in my head, realizing the song I was humming ….
“My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.”
The word prompt had done its job, directing my thoughts where God would have me to focus.
Hope, according to dictionary.com is “a person or thing in which expectations are centered“.
And when my expectations, my hope, are centered on the Person of Jesus Christ, it is then I stand on solid ground. It is there I find unchanging grace. It is then my anchor holds no matter how large the swells of life.
Hope.
Hope is not an emotion or feeling.
Hope is a Person.
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23, NIV)

Today I am joining … Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Fellowship Friday and Grace & Truth .
Amen, Amen
The prompts often trigger a song for me, too. I love your words here: “Hope is a person” Amen! Great post!
Thank you, Karen. I am always amazed at how one word can bring a song all day.
Joanne, do you know that the same song came to my mind during the morning, while or after writing my post?
I love your post. Short. Sweet, and to the point. Hope is a Person.
Betsy, I love that the prompt brought the same song to mind. Grateful for you.
Hope is a person! Yes! And that song has been in my head all week. ♥
Nannette, I am amazed at how many of us were singing or humming this song over the past week. Must have sounded like a choir to our God 🙂
Always love the old hymns. I am a fan of the Gaither’s and old Southern Gospel music and they sing the hymns so well. One cannot get tired of them.
Sharon, I am amazed at how the old hymns stuck – all the verses too!
I love it when God digs His truth deeper into our souls in simple ways, like a word, and expands our souls and lifts our spirits.
Cheryl, it’s true, isn’t it? He expands our souls & understanding of Him in simple ways. Probably so we get it!
Amen! Love this post and your focus on Hope, He is a Person â¤ï¸
Thank you, Beth. May we keep our hope firmly fixed on Him.
LOVE this song! We sing it all the time at church.
Barbie, it was amazing how many of us were singing this one this past week. Blessings to you!
Nice! I love your post full of HOPE!
Thank you. May we keep our hope fixed on Him.
