“May you experience the love of Christ; though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” (Ephesians 3:19, NLT)
I have gone back to read this blessing repeatedly the last few weeks ….
May your expectations all be frustrated,
May all of your plans be thwarted,
May all of your desires be withered into nothingness,
That you may experience the powerlessness and poverty of a child and can sing and dance in the love of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.(Brennan Manning, as quoted by John Ortberg in All The Places To Go, page 159)
May we dance!
Today I am joining … Give Me Grace and Still Saturday and Sunday Stillness and Spiritual Sundays and Scripture & a Snapshot .
Yes. You are right. This is the power of the yielded heart. To want nothing but the fullness of Him. This is the place where two wills collide and in the explosion the power of His will is revealed. His will is the health of the universe, the foundation of the world and the pleasure of heaven. This is the will of the Living God. This is where, in the dance of life, He takes the lead.
Beautifully put, Chris, “where two will collide & in the explosion the power of His will is revealed.” May we always let Him lead.
Beautiful. It reminds me of the song “Lord of the Dance.”
Dance, then, wherever you may be!
What a thought-inspiring quote – a way to think about how we die to self so we can live in Christ.
May we think about it more often is my prayer.
“Sing and dance in the love of the Trinity.” Just beautiful. We sometimes forget when we give up what seems good, something beyond our thoughts is given. I want to spend my week singing and dancing!
So very true. We give up the good and He gives us the best.
I look forward to dancing in heaven, with and for and around our Lord. Can hardly wait!
And there we will be the best dancers 🙂
Joanne… today it feels like Brennan Manning’s quote is exactly what I am experiencing and I would rather it wasn’t 😉 Singing and dancing in heaven is something I look forward to with eager anticipation !! But right now there is no energy to dance with Him…..I will ask Him to sweep me off my feet and carry me a bit I think 🙂
Mary, praying for Him to encourage your heart & strengthen you today!
I’ve followed the posts of 2 bloggers that traveled to Uganda last week. This poverty powerlessness and poverty of a child you mentioned struck me. It made me think of the images I saw and how through the weak I experienced joy. My spirit danced in their delight in knowing a joy that didn’t depend on wealth or fame. They knew God – and that was enough. Thanks for this today. Clearly the title drew me in but your image and corresponding words made me stay and think. You’re the #GiveMeGrace Wordsmith of the Week.
Lisha, this quote has struck deeply into my heart. You made me smile as I read your comment the image drew you in. I have so been drawn into your posts by the beautiful images you post of ballerinas. May we know Him, and ever more deeply, and may that always be enough for us. You bless in so many ways!
