I’m joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. Lots of women. All of us writing on that same word.
Today the word prompt is …. Turn.
Turn, as defined by dictionary.com is “to change or alter the course of; divert; deflect”.
Most timely word for today – turn – as this morning I will be driving to two places unknown to me. Needless to say, I am most grateful my car has a GPS system which I will rely upon. I will listen intently for the voice to tell me when and where to turn.
When I make a mistake or miss a turn, my GPS will automatically re-calculate and turn me around or re-direct my route. I can continue driving, somewhat confident, the GPS knows exactly where and how to get me to my destination.
Have you noticed life can be just the same?
I journey through life, with its twists and turns. There are times, I know exactly where I want to be. To get there is as easy as slice bread. But other times, I truly have no idea where I am headed nor how to go. It is at those very times, I am so grateful for the GPS provided to me through the Holy Spirit:
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21, NIV)
Just as in my car GPS, the Holy Spirit knows the way in which I am to go. Even those times, when I am going down a wrong path, He will change my course helping me to avoid or divert a situation. He is fully capable of re-calculating my steps so as to get me back on track and headed in the right direction once again.
GPS —> “Global Positioning System” —> works any place I go in this world for He always comes with me. He is faithful to stay the course for all of my days until one day He says …
“Your destination is up ahead.”
Today I may be joining … Five Minute Friday and Everyday Jesus and Fellowship Fri. and Friendship Fri. and Faith & Fellowship .
I enjoy this! It makes sense & I hope you made it to both destnations and everything! Blessings!
Glad it all made sense as sometimes it sounds different in my head 🙂 We made it to our destinations & back without a single missed turn. And trust me, I am rejoicing in that! Blessings!
Absolutely love this post dear friend! I am so directionally challenged that I take my GPS everywhere I go!! Ha!! 🙂 And, like my GPS, what a blessing that our precious Father guides and directs our paths; I would be so lost and would surely turn the wrong direction without Him!
Blessings and bunches of hugs for a great weekend!! 💛💛💛
Love!!
Denise
Denise, I am learning to trust my GPS greater & greater these days – both in my car & in my life 🙂 May you have a great week ahead!
I love that our heavenly GPS works better than our earthly one (who’s led me to an empty field instead of a mall before 😉 ).
LOL, Anita, it is so true! I can remember when needing to drive to a hotel in another state & pulling up to an abandoned building in a questionable area. Great point!
Yes! I love that the Holy Spirit is our GPS. Sometimes I work Him over time with my stubborn heart, but I’m glad He never leaves us. Lovely post. #FMFparty.
Leah, our stubborn hearts surely work Him over at times. I am so grateful that He is more stubborn than us & recalculates our journey with love. Grateful for your thoughts!
Love this take on “turn”! I have no sense of direction whatsoever. When we had first moved to the NW corner of Missouri and were traveling back home to Indiana, the Sweetheart was exhausted and I took over to drive for a while. We didn’t have GPS then and when he woke up we were on our way to Chicago! Cost us over two hours that day, lol. He hasn’t let me forget. Since then, thankfully, our technology has improved and I can go anywhere by myself with my phone. Thank you Jesus! Great post about the GPS of the Holy Spirit!!
Sad to say, Nannette, my husband’s sense of direction is much, much better than mine! And like you, he hardly lets me drive when we are together. Funny part is, when it is local places he needs to get to, he asks me how to get there! This is how we bring balance to our driving 🙂
First, I LOVE that Scripture– Every time I read it, I am like YEAH! (I need to write it down so I read it more often.) Secondly, great minds think alike– I once wrote a post similar to this about God being my life GPS.
So thankful He is with us through every twist and turn… And thankful that YOU are part of our community. Bless you, sweet Joanne!
Thanks, Sharita. It has been wonderful to join you each week. Sometimes we need a reminder with Scriptures. I know I surely do!
