John Wayne has been quoted as saying, “Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.”
“God, that our bones would creak for You. That we would stop trying to be so smart, stop trying to understand, stop trying to make You make sense. Forgive us; this is what we know. Help us be okay with the not knowing and saddle up anyway. Bring revival to the logical bones and let us step boldly wherever You call. Amen.”

Today I am joining … Give Me Grace and Still Saturday and Spiritual Sundays and Scripture & a Snapshot and Sunday Stillness .
Heartlifting photo and great prayer! I’m your neighbor on scripture and snapshot…
So happy to share with you. Hoping your Sunday was wonderful!
That quote spoke powerfully to me. I notoriously try to reason things out, too often leaning on my own understanding instead of acknowledging Him in all my ways.
Me too, Elizabeth. As I grow older, I am discovering just how limited my own understanding truly is & how great my need for Him! Hoping your Sunday was restful.
I was a John Wayne addict for years from the time a was a kid. I hope he had truly come to the Lord before his death. He sometimes gave very straightly Godly Words, but often was around and about in many other places. As an actor, it ain’t easy to always be in one direction. I’d sure have known that if I’d remained in public acting, as I did as a teen/early twenty. Only done it in churches since then, or connected to Godly stories around and about places in our nation and other countries I’m in over the Christmas time. Anyhow what you said, obviously me. Not the direction you have shared, of course, but the direction that hit my heart immediately. Thanks much.
Thank you for sharing so much, Joanne. Amazing how the post spoke to your heart & took you in the direction it did. It made me realize how critical to follow His leading in writing as we never know what and how our words will speak to another. Blessings!
AMEN. Oh, do those words ever make my heart burn. Thank you so much for sharing.
Oh that we would learn, His ways are so different from ours. And one day, it will all make sense when we see it from His perspective. Blessings, friend!
