This is an edited repost from January 2013 …..
Dear Jesus, how desperately I need to learn to pray. And yet, when I am honest, I know that I often do not even want to pray.
I am distracted!
I am stubborn!
I am self-centered!
In your mercy, Jesus, bring my “want-er†more in line with my “need-er†so that I can come to want what I need.
In your name & for your sake, I pray. —Amen.(taken from Richard J. Foster, “Prayer: Finding the Heart’s True Homeâ€, page 15)
“One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord teach us to pray…”. (Luke 11:1)
Today I am joining … Still Saturday and Sunday Stillness and Spiritual Sundays and Scripture & a Snapshot .
I’ve been thinking about prayer often lately…such a seemingly strange thing that God uses for our good. I don’t understand really how it works but that it does and He is faithful to hear the words of His people. May the words of your mouth and the meditations of your heart be acceptable to Him today!
So true, Marty. I do not know how it works. Just that it truly does! May we be faithful to pray for all things, for all people, in all ways, for all days!

Let us each come to Jesus today – and as our Intercessor lay down all those thoughts, troubles, thanksgivings and hopes to God. Have a blessed Sunday. Thanks to Days N Thoughts for this wonderful devotional.
Janis, I was so blessed and touched to see my post was reblogged. Thank you, sweet friend for your encouragement. You are so appreciated!
Great wording… fits right in to my personality, too. Struggling to constantly focusing on the Lord. Thanks for sharing.
Joanne, it is like when it comes to prayer, we develop ADD – our minds going everywhere & not staying focused where it should be. May we stay committed to pray as the Lord lays needs on our hearts and minds.
