“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NLT)
Our Father which art in heaven, we your children are often troubled in mind, hearing within us at once the affirmations of faith and the accusations of conscience.Â
We are sure that there is in us nothing that could attract the love of One as holy and as just as You are. Yet You have declared Your unchanging love for us in Christ Jesus. If nothing in us can win Your love, nothing in the universe can prevent You from loving us.
Your love is uncaused and undeserved. You are Yourself the reason for the love wherewith we are loved. Help us to believe the intensity, the eternity of the love that has found us. Then love will cast out fear; and our troubled hearts will be at peace, trusting not in what we are but in what You have declared Yourself to be. Amen(a prayer by A.W. Tozer, unfortunately I did not write down the source)

How blessed we are that He loved us…and loves us still…this much!
Such comforting words, Holly – “and loves us still”. How grateful I am!
That He loves us and enables us to love one another…an ordinary miracle we should rejoice over everyday, don’t you think?
Marty – Our ability to love each other is amazing. I am not sure that it is an ordinary miracle though as at times, it can be challenging 🙂 I am grateful that He enables us to love as He does. And yes, I do rejoice in that! So glad you shared!
Nothing can win His love, so nothing can prevent His love… It’s given lavishly. What a beautiful truth! Thanks for sharing this prayer! God bless!
I rejoice in the truth that nothing prevents His love! Thank you for sharing!
So glad that He first loved us! Without Him, I have no capacity to love others.
Yes,so very true. He deposits His love in us so that we can love others.
Accusations of conscience are good. They show us what we need to take to Him to get cleaned up and forgiven–and then they are and we are free again. Without that precious conscience we’d become hardened and uncaring about sin. But accusations from the enemy are something else, meant to bring us not to forgiveness and reconciliation with the Lover of our souls, but to make a barrier between our hearts and our loving God, and they are usually false, or already forgiven. God’s love, and forgiveness, are boundless.
Praying that my heart & mind always stay tender towards our God & others!
Such good words from Tozer! So glad I stopped in!
Joanne,
I am on the same walk of love as you are this month. And God keeps giving me new Scriptures that I hadn’t seen before. Thanks for linking to Sunday Stillness.
Blessings,
