Today is the day – Clout by Jenni Catron is released!!!! I had the privilege and the honor to be a part of the launch team. This is a book which every person will want to read.
Clout is defined as the power and influence each person possesses in their lives. Clout is individual to each of us and enables us to change the world around us as we all are capable in influencing others. Yet some of us fall into common traps which short circuit our clout.
Jenni shares experiences and Scripture to teach us how to avoid those traps. She openly discusses seven “clout” killers:
- Confronting Fear
- Understanding the Impact of Jealousy
- Squeezing Out Scarcity
- Identifying Insecurity
- Purging Pride
- Relinquishing Control
Jenni does not just leave us there. She goes on to share how we can cultivate our clout, making the most impact in our area of influence:
- Discovering Your Identity
- Developing Your Confidence
- Defining Your Mission
- Determining Your Passion
At the end of each chapter, Jenni includes Discovery questions to enable the reader to further delve in the subject in relation to your own life. I found myself examining my own heart and reflecting on issues which surfaced.
Jenni speaks from experience as she has served as the executive director of Cross Point Church in Nashville, Tennessee. She leads the staff of Cross Point and oversees the ministry of its five campuses. She writes with a heart that desires to inspire and equip others to to live and serve with passion and direction. Her transparency was refreshing and encouraged me greatly.
Thomas Nelson Books has graciously offered me a copy to give to one of you and trust me, you will want to get in on this. I want to make this simple so many of you will participate. Leave a comment sharing which of the four areas needs to be most cultivated in your life. Now don’t miss out as this opportunity will close one week from today, Jan. 28th, at midnight. The winner will be randomly chosen and announced on Wednesday. The book will be shipped directly from the publisher.

I am so excited about this book and that you are doing a giveaway! I think the area that I most need to cultivate in my life is “determining your passion.”
Krisy –
So glad you entered the giveaway. You are truly going to love this book when you read it! One of the quotes that Jenni shares and one which I loved… “Be who God meant you to be & you will set the world on fire.” (Catherine of Siena). And you, Krisy, will do just that as you continue to be who He has created you to be.
I love you!
Defining my mission. Thanks for the chance to win!
Jenni shares this thought…. “God is in the audience of life beaming with delight & joy as we go about our work.” Your work matters. It is significant to Him and to the lives of those children you share yourself with each school day. So glad you also entered the giveaway. You are going to LOVE this book! And I love you!

It is a wonderful book & a great resource to have!
This book sounds great! For me, it’s definitely developing my confidence. 🙂 Thanks for sharing about this book.
Jenni shares this about developing our confidence…”Our God-given influence is unleashed when we confidently know God’s voice and are obedient to follow it.” (page 137) I am so glad that you entered as it is a wonderfully rich book. May we confidently know and follow Him all of our days!
Oh, finding my mission please!
So glad you entered!
Sounds like a great book Joanne! I’m sure I would benefit from going through the whole book. I’ve had clear vision in the past, but right now as my life has shifted to having no kids home full-time, my vision is a little fuzzy. I’m uncomfortable in this…but I do trust God to be at work regardless. He’s never failed me yet. I’ll start with Discovering My Identity. Thanks for sharing this on http://www.CirclesOfFaith.org!
