There is much preparation which goes into the makings of Christmas festivities. For instance, I was up till midnight getting ready for friends and family to begin visiting tonight. My heart is full of anticipation and excitement to spend time with those I love the next few days. And so, my mind once again turns back to the words….
Prepare the way.
In Luke, a part of Zechariah’s song (found in Luke 1:67-79) has lodged itself deep into my thoughts and my heart the last few days. Zechariah spoke words which I am so grateful were recorded for my benefit. I do not want to miss their significance this Advent Season for they truly tell me the very reasons that my Savior came to earth. He was on a mission, sent by His Father to accomplish purposes that forever changed the course of the world. More personally……they changed my life eternally.
Christ came and Zechariah praised God …..
- Â For now a way had been made for redemption of His people.
- A Savior had come.
- God’s promise had been fulfilled.
- We have been rescued from our enemies.
- We can live in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live.
- We have forgiveness of sins,
- His light breaks into our darkness.
- He guides us in paths of peace.
The birth of Christ moves our lives …..
from darkness to light,
from death to life,
from conflict to peace.
I thanked Him this morning for all that His coming, His birth, brings into my life. His birth changes my life each day. His birth will always impact the lives of His people. Christmas resides in our hearts for that is the very place He now lives. Christmas …..
It’s not in the snow that may or may not fall,
And it’s not in the gifts around the tree
It’s in the love heaven gave, the night our Savior came,
And that same love can still be found wherever you are,
‘Cause Christmas is all in the heart.
