The children’s story of Frosty the Snowman has delighted people for years. The friendly snowman is able to romp through the town with the children when his top hat brings him to life. I have heard the song a few times over the last few weeks and several thoughts about the stacked snowball creature finally hit me:
He was made of snow but the children know how he came to life one day.
Something happens to us when we are in community with others that love and accept us. We suddenly come to life. We feel alive. We truly are meant to thrive and grow in relationship with one another.ĆĀ Life is more enjoyable in the company of others. We find our purpose in life. Those close to us know what we are made of – they know our past, our shortcomings, our assets, our talents. And they know Who is in the process of changing us and making use of our gifting. “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10).
Frosty the snowman was alive as he could be.
We not only grow in community. We also find an abundance of life in and through Christ. “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” (John 10:10b). There is a an expectancy of purpose and satisfaction in life that occurs. As we grow in Christ and with each other, life truly does become better. Fuller. Richer. Exciting. Paths cross. Purposes align and knit together. All for our betterment and for His glory.
Frosty the snow man had to hurry on his way
But he waved goodbye saying
“Don’t you cry, I’ll be back again some day

Wow! What an awesome reflection of friendship especially timely for the season. I love how you related it to the story of Frosty …that has always been one of my favorite Christmas time songs/stories.
Thank you! I am trying to listen more intently to the familiar songs. Like you, I have always loved watching the story of Frosty with my children. It was gain a new perspective on him š Have a wonderful Christmas!
Really special post for me, I’m all about the community and fellowship! It’s so difficult sometimes with chronic illness to feel isolated, and it’s so important that we not let that happen! That’s why our online friends are so special as well, and I’m so glad you’re one of mine! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
I cannot imagine all that one must contend with when dealing with chronic illness. But I do think the isolation would be most difficult for me. It is wonderful when we can make online connections & a community by which we can encourage one another. Shelly, I am glad that I met you & to be a part of your community. You have blessed for sure!
I love this! For so many years I isolated myself and stayed away from people. My life has truly changed since I have let friends into my life and started trusting people again. True friendship absolutely brings us to life :)!
Candace – It is so easy for me to put my tail between my legs & run from others. May we find the courage to fight that urge & trust. May we trust others & trust God to bring the people we need into our lives. So glad that you stopped here!
I’ve never looked at the story of Frosty the Snowman this way! But friendships/relationships are of true value in this life, and definitely worth having!
I had never looked at Frosty in this way either until this year. And I probably will never look at him the same š So glad that you stopped here! May you have a wonderful Christmas!
I love how you brought the importance and blessing of friendship alive through the story of Frosty. Love it!
Barbie – We all so need each other. It has continued to amaze me how God is using the internet & blogging to bring His people together. May He grow us all, in & through the friendships He has brought! Blessings!
“Something happens to us when we are in community with others that love and accept us. We suddenly come to life. We feel alive. We truly are meant to thrive and grow in relationship with one another.” This is so true! I love the community of believers. Thanks for encouraging us all to belong to such a community.
Love this! š
Lyli – I am glad! It was your comment about Frosty being next that challenged me to look at this song a little more closely š I would say it was like a “Bobby Flay Throwdown Challenge” but perhaps I should say that you “spurred me on”. Either way, I am grateful!
