MORNING PRAYER
O God, early in the morning I cry to you. Help me to pray And to concentrate my thoughts on you: I cannot do this alone. In me there is darkness, but with you there is light; I am lonely, but you do not leave me; I am feeble in heart, but with you there is help; I am restless, but with you there is peace. In me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience; I do not understand your ways, but you know the way for me… Restore me to liberty, and enable me to live now, that I may answer before you and before me. Lord, whatever this day may bring, Your name be praised.
– Dietrich Bonhoeffer
In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice;
In the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait in expectation.
(Psalm 5:5, NIV)

Another #31Days!! I am going to spend time catching up on your posts later today 🙂 So glad you visited me!
Joining you in this prayer. The peace of Christ be with you.
Thanks for sharing such a beautiful prayer!
And Bonhoeffer went through more than most of us can even imagine, and was a martyr at the end of WWII. And we are so appreciative of him, and yet he didn’t think he was perfect. That would be true about almost any/all of us who are growing in the Lord, but see how lacking in perfect we are.
Thanks for sharing this. It was a heart toucher.
What a beautiful prayer from Bonhoeffer! Joanne, thank you for stirring my heart this Sunday to see how much more I can unfold my heart and my thoughts to Him. I envision my hand unfolding and letting all the ugliness I hold onto going to Him.
Blessings,
Janis
Janis – So true – as we let go of the ugliness, there is more room for Him to fill us. Praying that your eyes are improving each day. AND, I love your pumpkin “bakings” that you posted on FB 🙂
I will have to look up Dietrich Bonhoeffer because that is a lovely prayer for today. I see more and more posts on prayer so I know God is moving in the hearts, minds and souls of His followers.
Thanks for being a part of Sunday Stillness.
Blessings,

Janis – A good but lengthy biography is Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxas. Thank you for faithfully hosting the linkup each week. It is a blessing.
