{Five Minute Friday….here’s how it works. One prompt. Five minutes. Write unedited. Link up with others. Sheer joy & fun too!}
In Between.
Those are the words that form this week’s prompt. Weird as it is two words & not one. I know what it is like to be “in between”. You know…..neither here nor there.
Like yesterday. I go to pick up an ice cream cake from the store. It is frozen, naturally, but that is here. I need to get it to there, which is about a 30 minute ride & I do not want that it should even begin to soften never mind melt. The ride seems so long, longer than the thirty minutes. I cannot check the cake to see what is happening with it. And for those thirty minutes, the cake is neither here (safely frozen at the store) nor there (safely frozen at the destination). I am stuck “in between”. I cannot change a thing. I must keep moving.
It is in the moving that I will arrive.
It is in the moving that I will arrive at my destination that will offer me the promise of relief (a freezer).
It is in the moving that I will arrive to that place where I will be in safety (our cake will not melt).
Life is like that, don’t you think? We here in the now. We need to get there – the place of promise & fulfillment. The “in between” can pose uncertainty, insecurity & be a threat at times. We know in our hearts that we must just keep moving & we will get there. So each day, we put one foot in front of the other. We may teeter yet we keep going. We may be shaky but we carefully take the next step. We are not yet there but we are no longer here either.
We are “In Between”.
It reminds me of this Scripture, ” But he brought us out from there to bring us in and give us the land that he promised on oath to our forefathers.” (Deuteronomy 6:23)
We move from here (the present) to be In Between (the transitional time) to get to there (the place of promise where our lives find fulfillment).
Knowing that the “In Between” brings hope & expectancy.
Today I am linking up with Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Fellowship Fridays and Friendship Friday and Bible Love Notes and Essential Fridays and Fun Filled Friday .
Love that analogy! So clever.
nice analogy … a sweet start to my Friday! I love that those ancient words from Deuteronomy are still alive and well for us today!
And aren’t we thankful that those words are for us!
Dear Joanne
Yes, we live in the in between of eternity like pilgrims on our way home!
Blessings

love your post Joanne~ and that verse from Deuteronomy- it’s one of my favorites! great analogy-I’m not so great at those!
Lori –
I love that verse too. Yet I do not like the experience of being moved out. I have taken comfort that He moves out in order to move us to that place where we need to be. Thanks for stopping by this morning!
enjoyed reading this morning
The in-between is so hard sometimes, but that’s what builds our faith and trust. Sometimes it can be better than we ever wished for.
Kim
inspired to just keep moving on … looking forward to my tomorrow with HIM.
what happened to the ice cream cake? — April
The cake made it!!! Intact :)) Thank you for stopping by.
Great analogy about waiting and transitional time. It’s great how God uses that time in our lives. Thanks for linking up at Essential Fridays. Blessings.
What a wonderful and creative analogy. It is that “in between” that counts the most: not the starting line or the destination….in between we learn so many necessary lessons. I thoroughly enjoyed this post. Thank you for linking up at A Little R & R Wednesdays. I hope you’ll be back to link up again!
Thank you for stopping, reading my post & leaving a comment. I did link up again with you 🙂
Blessings,
Joanne
