Morale is the state of mind. It is steadfastness and courage and hope. It is confidence and zeal and loyalty….It is staying power, the spirit which endures to the end – the will to win. With it all things are possible, without it everything else…is for naught.
Former General George C. Marshall (as quoted in The 5 Levels of Leadership by John C.Maxwell, page 142)
“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you & make you strong, firm & steadfast. To him be the power for ever & ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 5:10 NIV84).

I never understood the importance of state of mind until my father passed away and I learned that what he had given me–a joyous expectation of something wonderful–is not shared by many people. So many approach life leading with fear rather than boldness. I am so grateful.
Thank you for sharing this. How important to realize that as a parent we can help mold the frame of mind by which our children will look at life. Your dad lives on through the lessons you have learned & now share. Blessings!
Dear Joanne
The most important race we engage with in life, is the race of faith. May our God enable us with His grace to stay on this path with a steadfast heart.

Amen!
You are so right. That is not a lesson my father, as an atheist, was able to teach. Isn’t it odd that now I see, even in Dad’s blindness toward God for most (not all) of his life, that he knew the great truth about the glory, not only in the next world, but in this one as well.
Great post. And “nothing is impossible with God”.
Blessings,

good words here today. I have also learned morale isn’t something you give to others or make others have. It is a personal attribute. You are responsibility for your own morale, not the boss, not the job not the family. just you.
Hi Jean:
I was wondering whether you meant morale, which is a state of mind consisting of our own mood or emotional state, or morality, which exists outside of us and is the province of God and His commandments regarding behavior. If I understand you correctly, it took me a long time to learn that I can control my own morale, or emotions. They are not imposed on me without my consent. Man, did that change my life!
Oh, yes. This. Such good thoughts.
