Here.
Here I am sitting in front of my computer. I am in this very moment, here. Yet my life is a compilation of all my days together. Who I am here includes all the “there’s – the places I have been, the people I have known, the experiences I have had, the pains I have endured, the joys I have known. Here in this moment, I have been a daughter, a student, an employee, a wife, a mom & so many other roles in my life. Each “here” has left its mark on my life somehow changing me. Each “here” had purpose & meaning. Here is meant to somehow transform me so that I become more like the very One Who gives “here” significance.
And yet, it is a mystery that here also includes there. All the promises given there are for me, here. The covenants made there hold true for me here.
“I am making this covenant not only with you who are standing here with us today in the presence of the Lord our God but also with those are not here today.” (Deuteronomy 29:14, 15).
Did you catch it – “not here today”. That includes me. And you.
Here in this moment.
Here & there both matter. Both woven into my life. Here.
I participated in Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Fellowship Fridays .
ah yes … here is there after all, when all is said and done.
How very true! Thanks for sharing your thought!
Linda says it well. Amen to her words. I love how you bring the Deuteronomy scripture into the picture, how you see the “here” transforming now, and yet the timelessness in God’s promise, “there,” and “here.”
I liked how you added, “the timelessness of God’s promises.” Yes, He is a faithful God to ALL generations! Thank you for sharing!
So true.
We all need that reminder. I know I need to hear it often. It’s easy to see Christ and the cross as a distant happening – a piece of history – rather than an act of love for US. Thank you.
It is amazing how the Cross is a distant happening – a piece of history – that is currently happening as well 🙂 Thanks for visiting & sharing!
Excellent 5 minute devotion on a difficult word. But you brought out a lot of meaning.
Thank you so much.
