Our Monday mantra……”I hate Mondays!”
Lisa & I both feel the same way as it is the busiest day of our week with a lot of running around. And obviously, we aren’t the only ones 🙂
I rest my case. Many of us dislike Mondays.
We had already spoken those words to each other by the time I sat down to give Jocelyn her morning bottle. I settled in the curve of our couch, by the windows which is my favorite spot to feed Jocelyn.
In looking out, I noticed that it was already a snowy/icy mix of precipitation coming down.
“Yuck, going to get Sophia from school will not be a fun ride.”, I thought to myself.
It was then that I saw two large & beautiful bluejays in the tree nearby. They were perched as if the weather was sunny & enjoyable.
Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.
Matthew 6:26 MSG
Careless….always has a negative connotation. But to be “careless in the care of God”, well, that is a precious thought. That would surely mean that nothing would be able to trouble me. I would have no cares or concerns about my day because it was totally in the care of God.
I looked down at Jocelyn, sweetly taking her bottle, eyes closed, totally relaxed with her hand over mine. She finished her bottle. Eyes yet closed, her mouth became wide open as she waited for & anticipated her binkie being put into place.
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Matthew 6:25 NIV
Wait – don’t worry? In a time of rising housing & food costs? Price of gas at a ridiculous level?
Not to worry about how my children will be able to afford homes & children of their own?
“How, Lord? How do I do that?”
And ever so softly, so gently, came the answer….
“Give us this day our daily bread.”
It is as I trust Him – daily – that I will not worry. And that He will provide.
