I am reminded today of a verse, a promise actually –

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”  (Isaiah 26:3 NLT).

He promises to keep us in peace. That is His part.

Our part?

  • we are to trust in Him
  • we are to keep our thoughts fixed on Him.

Some days, if we are honest, that is easier said than done. Some days are easier than others to be successful at maintaining our focus.

I read a wonderful paraphrase of Psalm 23 yesterday.

“The Lord is my peace. I shall not live in anxiety. He puts me under His wing of comfort & calms my spirit within me. He takes all my anxieties on Himself & helps me to focus on Him. Yes, though I walk through a time of grave uncertainties & fierce anxieties, I will not fret – for You are my peace. Your Word & Your presence calm me now. You hold my uncertainties in the palm of Your hand. You soothe my anxious mind – You smooth my wrinkled brow. Surely serenity & trust in You shall fill me all the days of my life. And I shall keep my mind stayed on You forever.”
