Every Friday I join a community of bloggers for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt, five minutes. Unedited. The prompt this week is … Become.
In the midst of several conversations this week, the obvious was right in front of me – life has become a battle of sorts for people.
The battles and challenges may vary in size, in type, and intensity but the battle is there.
Looking up the definition of the word “become” one meaning took on a new light: “to be suitable or necessary to the dignity, situation, or responsibility of ” (dictionary.com).
God has been working in each of our lives to get us to this moment. We have been in the process of becoming all we needed to be in order to face the challenges of these days.
Little by little, He has been molding, strengthening, depositing into us and changing us to become suitable and responsible for the situations in our lives.
Each of our days builds upon the other so that step by step we become equipped for the next day. God has always been in the process of preparing us for the next challenge.
“Blessed be the Lord, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle; My lovingkindness and my fortress, My stronghold and my deliverer, My shield and He in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people under me.” (Psalm 144:1-2, NASB)
As we submit our lives into His hands,
in His infinite wisdom,
we become all He destined for us to be.

Today I may be joining …
Visiting from FMF and so blessed to read your post. I love the reminder to submit to God to become all that he destined us to be. What a great reminder!
I’m becoming that which I will be,
the purpose that God made me for.
Trouble is, I cannot see
it ’cause I am flat on the floor
and my view is circumscribed
by this very low estate;
I’m just glad that I’ve survived
long enough to see the gate
that ol’ JC said was quite narrow,
and will my ego even fit?
But Dad knows fall of every sparrow
so I guess He’ll make quick work of it,
and high-five me as I pass through
into Heaven’s wider view.
Great blog. I want to submit to God and become more like Jesus. To do that, takes time- time in his Word, time in prayer and time gathering with other believers in church. I loved your blog.

I’m so thankful He is faithful to prepare us for today, then faithful to walk with us step-by-step, Joanne.
So grateful that He is still at work, shaping us, molding us, teaching us to mirror the image of His Son. Grateful, too, that He never gives up on us, even when we tend to head the other way.
What a Savior.
Great post full of good food for thought.
Love “God has been working in each of our lives to get us to this moment. We have been in the process of becoming all we needed to be in order to face the challenges of these days.”
Thanks for sharing.
This is a great reminder, Joanne. I was reminded yesterday, during worship at church, of His purpose in my becoming and I’m grateful. It’s not what others think it should look like, nor what I thought it would look like, but it’s HIS purposes and His power making it happen. Visiting from FMF #3 this week.
