“Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually. Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done, His marvels and the judgments from His mouth.”
(1 Chronicles 16:11-12, NASB)
In these Scriptures, we are reminded of two actions we are to do:
- Seek the Lord. When we get casual about God, we think we can manage our days in our own strength and abilities. The writer of Chronicles reminds us to “seek the Lord continually“. Ongoing. Every day. Never stop so that we don’t ever miss His activity.
- Remember. We are creatures with a shortened memory. “Remember” as defined by dictionary.com is “to recall to the mind by an act or effort of memory; to keep in mind; to remain aware of” (from dictionary.com). When we don’t intentionally remember His wondrous deeds, we forget that He is God Almighty. We need to remember the Red Sea parted, the manna in the wilderness, the water turned to wine, and the healings of days passed.
“Recapture the essence of God’s greatness not only for what He does, but for who He is. Embrace a holy expectancy and believe that His presence in your midst changes everything.”
(from Prevail by Susie Larson, page 102)
Seek the Lord continually every day,
remembering His wondrous deeds.

Today I am joining …
I am becoming more and more convinced that the secret to aging well is to remember God’s faithfulness. It’s the way we face the challenges and the fear of the unknown.
I agree with you, Michele. His faithfulness in the past prepares us for His faithfulness in the future.
So much good stuff in one verse. How our faith would grow and our lives would change if we did these two things continually.
It’s true, isn’t it? May we seek Him continually for He continually has something to say to us.
Yes, let’s remember the wonders of our mighty God. His people have remembered throughout the ages and we must too! Good reminder to remember…:)
Great meditation for today. Thanks, Joanne.
Joanne, such good thoughts. “Remember” is something I need to incorporate into every day. You are right, as humans our memories are short and I might add, “flawed”. Remembering God’s faithfulness strengthens our heart and relationship with Him!
Donna, you brought such insight in using the word “flawed” as that so rightly describes our memories.
“Embrace a holy expectancy and believe that His presence in your midst changes everything.” Oh, yes! I’m going to copy this down somewhere so I can refer to it again and again. Thanks for sharing Susie’s quote, Joanne.
So glad I did!
