It’s was the fifth and final week of a month of praise. It proved to be a wonderful way to start off a new year.
- Praise helps in the middle of difficulties. We started the week with reading Psalm 62:8 and Philippians 4:6. David was telling us to attach ourselves to God at all times. This mean in the midst of difficulties, we unburden ourselves to Him alone, pouring our hearts to Him. When fear, worry, anxiety, and panic enter our hearts, we can come to God – our refuge. We can be confident that He rules, and overrules, any difficulty or scheme of the enemy. We can praise Him for coming to help us in our darkest of times.Â
- Praise brings rest. We turned our hearts to Colossians 3:4 and Matthew 11:28-29. We serve a God who beckons us to come and lay down our weights of life with Him, and in so doing, we discover a rest only He can give. Patricia reminded us it is as if He says, “Give that to me to carry…it’s too heavy for you…I promise I will fix it if you give it to Me.”
- Praise reminds us of the completed work of the Cross. The reading was Ephesians 2:19 and Psalm 57:11. Jesus, through the completed work of the Cross, has now made us citizens. We are no longer strangers or aliens, but are fully accepted into the family of God. In this psalm, David reminds us that no matter how great the difficulty we may face, God is greater. My commentary states this: “In an hour of trouble, let the righteous lift to God the petition for him to exalt himself above the heavens. He will display his sovereignty over their lives causing all things to work together for his glory and their good. May hearts be awakened to sing his praise!”
- Praise brings peace. We ended the month with reading Psalm 102: 25-27; Jeremiah 31:3; 2 Peter 1:4; and 1 Kings 8: 56
. God is always the same. As He has been, so will He always be. He has always loved His people and with His unfailing love, He draws us to Himself. His promises to us are precious and enable us to overcome in our lives. We can find peace in knowing that He has a plan for our lives, woven together down through the ages, with and by His love.
May we praise Him each and every day for He will never fail us!

As I complained about being sick yet again with another sinus infection, I paused and looked outside. My perspective changed as I encountered the glory of sunshine and warmth. Thank You God, for your blessings.

The fact that God is always the same was the focus of my readings this morning and it such a reassuring truth in a world where so many other things around us are changing. His faithfulness really is an anchor for our souls!
Praise is powerful and I’ve seen it turn a horrible situation around. Psalm 8 talks about that and wow! Is it true!!
