Today I’m joining Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. One word prompt. Five minutes. No editing. All of us writing on that same word.
Today’s prompt is …. News.
News = “a report of a recent event; intelligence; information” (dictionary.com)
Lately the news has been followed than ever as I pursue news of the latest which is going on in this election year. Much of what I hear each day saddens and perplexes me. And I am not going to write a post on politics. Not my intent at all.
The prompt brought this question to mind: What are we to do when we fear bad news?
Our only response must be, “We stand steadfast because our God remains unmovable and on His throne always.”
“They {{the godly}} do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.” (Psalm 112:7, NLT)
Those who are God-fearing and trusting in the protection and provision of our God will not fear bad news. They will remain stable and steady, in spite of the news. They remain rooted in the truth of the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Those placing their hope in God remain confident and fearless, trusting God to protect them and make provision for them – no matter the news.
May we not allow the daily news to dictate our lives.
May we remain steadfast, trusting The Good News of Jesus.
Today I am joining .. Five Minute Friday and Faith Filled Friday and Grace & Truth .
Hallelujah! We don’t have to fear bad news. I’ve always loved that Psalm, Joanne. I always applied it to not fearing that bad things would happen to me. (They might, but I don’t have to fear them in advance!!!) But to apply this to the actual news we are seeing and hearing each day brings new peace indeed. 🙂
I also have applied it to bad things happening to me. It was eye opening to get a new perspective on this verse in light of all that goes on in the world each day. He is our protector and provider. Always.
Trusting God to handle the ‘bad news’ in our lives isn’t easy, but we receive such a blessing of peace when we do! Blessings on your weekend, Joanne!
It’s amazing how He brings peace in smack dab in the middle of all that goes on. May we trust Him all of our days.
A BIG BOISTEROUS AMEN from the peanut gallery, Joanne. The news of the day is enough to stir fear in the calmest heart. I’m with you – and because of the angst it can cause, I’m keeping praise music on all day long from the kitchen iPad!!! Let everything and everyone that has breath PRAISE THE LORD. THAT is the best news!!! xo Glad we’re neighbors, again!
Susan, you brought such a smile because I also have music going much of the time. It’s the best way to keep our hearts & mind stayed on Him. Blessings! xo
Sweet promise — especially right now with all the crazy going on in our world.
All the craziness is what made this verse so fresh and precious. Amazing how God brings just what we need. Praying for you & your hubby, Lyli. Blessings!
All the yeses and amens to this post. I think we all needed this reminder. Thank You!
This is so comforting. Thank you for the reminder! It’s hard not to fear the news when I see what is showing up online and in the paper, but yes, God is indeed in control.
Sometimes we just need to turn off the news and remember He is where He always has been – seated on His throne. All powerful. In complete control. Blessings~
Thanks for sharing Psalm 112:7 with us today. In view of the crazy that is dished up for us every day, this is a great reminder.
I’m so glad I know the Lord – how people function without Him, I’ll never know.
I so agree, Jerralea. I do not know how anyone makes it through this life apart from Him. Blessings!
Joanne, thank you for this verse. So timely for me, and I imagine for many others as well. I’m confidently trusting the Lord right along with you! Bless you today, friend.
Julie, may we all continually encourage one another to keep trusting Him. No matter what. He will always be faithful to His people. Blessings to you this week! xo
